Issues that Matter Most to You

Spokane deserves new leadership on the Spokane City Council

Our City Council must do better about working for you, not for personal agendas.

We have seen crime sky rocket, from car thefts to drive by shootings. Small businesses are struggling to keep their doors open. The homelessness crisis has gotten worse.

Spokane needs leaders who will advocate for public safety, not against it. Who will fight for solutions to the homelessness crisis, not slow roll progress.

Kim Plese is that leader. Vote for Kim Plese for City Council President.

Keeping Families & Neighborhoods Safe

Kim knows that public safety is paramount to a thriving community. We all deserve to live, work, play, and raise our families in safe neighborhoods. The current City Council majority has not taken public safety seriously.

They have taken steps to support the police reform measures in Olympia that have increased crime rates across the state and here in Spokane. The City Council has taken steps to remove the East Central Police Precinct from its current location.

Kim will support the Spokane Police Department to ensure they have the tools, training, and additional mental health resources necessary to keep our neighborhoods safe for everyone in the city.

Kim supports the community policing model that has been recently implemented because she believes this new model will help to reduce and deter crime, while increasing positive relationships between the community and law enforcement.

Getting the City Council Back to City Business

The current Council majority spends more time and taxpayer dollars weighing in on issues that are outside of the scope of their official duties rather than reaching solutions on critical issues including housing, homelessness, and public safety.

Kim has pledged to keep the City Council focused only on City related issues.

Addressing Housing & Homelessness Through Community Partnerships

Kim will work with regional partners to bring real solutions to the homelessness crisis by ensuring that those facing homelessness are able to get the help they need through increased community partnerships.

To address this crisis, we need regional input on services including increases in mental health services, addiction treatment, job training, and bridge housing.

Kim knows we need to address the rising cost of housing, that’s why she’s been endorsed by the people who build up our community. We need more housing supply and more types of housing to address the increases in rent and median home prices. She will stand up against policies that increase the cost of housing.

Supporting Workers and Small Businesses To Boost Our Local Economy

Experience matters and with over 30 years of business experience, Kim has what it takes to support businesses and workers. As City Council President, Kim’s priority is to make sure that Spokane’s policies allow for growth to support our local economy and bring good-paying jobs for workers.

Kim will work to keep taxes low so you can keep more money in your pocket. At a time when inflation and the cost of living is on the rise, you deserve relief. The City Council has regularly voted to raise your property taxes. Kim pledges that if elected, she will vote against any tax increase that increases the burden on the citizens of Spokane.

Kim will invest in small businesses, economic development and job training programs that will provide more, and better, opportunities for everyone in city of Spokane. This is foundational for our local economy and residents to be able to thrive.
